Description
Women as CEOs
Since the Company's Act 2013 mandated having one woman member on every Board, the number of women corporate leaders in India has increased considerably. As per Deloitte Global’s Women in the Boardroom Report, the percentage of female corporate leaders has gone up from 9.4% in 2014 to 17.1% in 2022. However, there has been a decline in the number of women CEOs in the last six years. Women in India remain underrepresented in top positions as male executives overwhelmingly dominate C-suites. Amongst the Fortune 100 companies in India, only five have women CEOs. Various reasons can be attributed to the same, with gender bias at the top of the list.
